Zone 08 Marcano

Go to Bahia De La Galera

Bahia de la Galera. North east of Juangriego, located in a calm bay, is this picturesque 1.200m beach best known for colorful Caribbean sunsets. This beach is 20m wide and its sand is white. The water is cool here, there are a few palm trees and services are available.

Go to Fortin De La Galera

Fortin de la Galera: Despite this fort’s historical value as witness to the bloody events of previous centuries, this building is nowadays the perfect place to admire colorful sunsets over Caribbean waters. The view from here extends over the island’s entire west side, where the tranquil waters of La Galera bay and Juan Griego bay meet.

 Juangriego (11)

Go to Juangriego

Juan Griego: Is the second largest town on Margarita and is located in one of the most tranquil and picturesque bays of the island. Its wide, curving beach, its fishing boats and its dramatic fortification on the hill to the north of the bay makes it particularly alluring and photogenic.

Go to Laguna De Los Martires

Laguna de Los Martires: Behind the Galera’s fort there is a tiny lagoon, its name means Lagoon of the Martyrs and it is said that it was of a blood color during the war of liberation.

 Taguantar (13)

Go to Taguantar

Taguantar is a paved coastal road that stretches along the North west coast of eastern Margarita. Along this coast you will find secluded sandy bays with very gentle surf. If you like the idea of visiting remote fishermen’s villages, these are the closest ones to start with.
