Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion, Venezuela’s second oldest church, was built in 1617, its construction took almost 50 years to complete. It houses the image of the Virgen of the Ascension. In this church Simon Bolivar, was proclaimed the liberator. Bolivar liberated five South American countries (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia).
