Restinga Lagoon national Park is Margarita’s prime tourist attraction. There is a tiny harbor where hired boats take people along 15 Km of criss-crossing natural channels that cut trough the thick mangroves which border this large lagoon. The southern part connects to the sea. It was decreed National Park on February 06, 1974. and covers an area of 18,850 hectares. The area serves as a refuge for many bird life, pelicans, great white heron, cormorant, hawk, scarlet and white ibis. |
